Wires and cables are manufactured through three processes: drawing, stranding, and covering. The more complex the model and specifications, the higher the repetition.
1. Drawing
In metal pressure processing, the technical processing method in which metal is forcibly passed through a die (pressure wheel) under external force, and the metal cross-sectional area is compressed to obtain the required cross-sectional area shape and size is called metal drawing.
Drawing processes are divided into: single-wire drawing and stranded wire drawing.
2. Stranding
In order to improve the softness and integrity of wires and cables, more than two single wires are intertwined in a specified direction, which is called stranding.
Stranding processes are divided into: conductor stranding, cabling, braiding, wire armoring, and wrapping.
3. Covering
According to the different performance requirements of wires and cables, different materials are covered on the outside of the conductor using special equipment. Covering processes are divided into:
A. Extrusion: rubber, plastic, lead, aluminum, etc.
B. Longitudinal wrapping: rubber, corrugated aluminum tape.
C. Wrapping: strip-shaped paper tape, mica tape, alkali-free fiberglass tape, non-woven fabric, plastic tape, etc., and linear cotton yarn, silk, and other fiber materials.
D. Dip coating: insulating paint, asphalt, etc.
